BaltiBus (Bawn and Latton Transport Initiative) is the voluntary organisation responsible for coordinating the Rural Transport Programme in Co. Monaghan. Born in 2003, based in rural mid Monaghan and operating as a sub committee of Latton Social Services and Development Ltd, the programme currently provides 46 weekly services throughout the county

The Board of BaltiBus has representation from Monaghan County Council, Monaghan VEC, Monaghan Integrated Development, Monaghan IFA, Monaghan County Childcare, Monaghan Community Forum, Monaghan Community Network.
RTP Programme
The Rural Transport Programme (RTP) is designed to provide a quality nationwide community based public transport system in rural Ireland which responds to local needs. It is funded by the Department of Transport under the National Development Plan 2007-2013. This programme is managed by Pobal on behalf of the Department.
The key objectives of the Rural Transport Programme(RTP) are to
- Meet unmet needs in a flexible and dynamic way
- Provide equality of access for all Maximise current transport assets & use technology to coordinate transport.
- Provide models of partnership at all levels where key sectors actively engage in transport provision.
- Develop models of good practice.
- Influence rural transport policy.
The Programme is delivered nationally through 36 community based groups, all of which are either not-for profit companies limited by guarantee or co-operatives. There is a bottom up approach to service development i.e. the RTP works with local communities to plan and deliver flexible transport services that meet the needs of the community, including those who experience social exclusion
